Overland Corner suggests to me a stopping place for explorers on their way into the Never Never, the last post of civilisation on route to who knows where.
The reality is not quite as romantic as my imagination, but the Overland Corner Hotel which was built in 1859, I’m sure would have some fabulous tales to tell!
It was the stopping place for trade and travel between Adelaide and points east catering for both road and river traffic.
Today it’s gardens and bar still offer travellers a cool place to enjoy a meal and drink.
Camping is permitted behind the pub or you can travel 700 metres down a corrugated track to the banks of the Murray River and a drive along the riverfront will provide some great sites to pull up for the night. This is the view from inside my van where I’ve camped for the last couple of nights.
And there was plenty of riverfront for everyone.
It’s Valentines Day as I’m writing and these two trees seem to have got into the spirit of the day giving each other a big hug 🤗
Hugs to you all this Valentines Day. I wish you a life filled with love and laughter 🥰.
