Myths & Magic of the Devon/Cornwall Coast

Day 12: our adventures continue

On the way to Port Isaac we detoured to Tintagel, (tin-Taj-el), the site of King Arthur’s castle, or what remains of it…. And of course that also depends on whether you believe in the legend of King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table!

We chose not to pay £20 ($40) each to visit the ruins but contented ourselves with a visit to the information centre and King Arthur’s Great Halls

The Halls were actually built by an eccentric millionaire …

The Information Centre had a fabulous interactive display of the history the Celts –

and I also found some little relatives of Grundle & Grimple …

Gronks

I loved this quirky shop we walked past….

… and this ivy covered house!

From Tintagel we continued down the coast at Trebarwith

And then along tree lined lanes to Port Isaac, the subject of my previous blog.

What with Druids, King Arthur, Doc Martin, piksies, pirates and pasties I’ve enjoyed the short time we’ve had in this fascinating area and would love more time to immerse myself in the local culture of myths and magic.
