Day 25: I really appreciated our leisurely start to the day today rather than rushing off as we’ve been doing lately. Dave had planned to show me Lacock Abbey and historical village and then go to Castle Combe for a look. A favourite saying of mine is “You can’t do everything “ and today was one of those days! So we started with lunch at The Barge Inn at Seend.

After sharing a charcuterie platter we sat back in the sunshine and enjoyed the activity on the canal.

At last I get to see some canal boats actually doing their thing!
After lunch we went to Lacock Abbey and used our National Trust cards for the first time.

I was a little disappointed as there wasn’t much to see with many areas closed off. The rooms we could enter were mainly empty so I certainly didn’t get any feel for the life at the time.
We then wandered into the village, only 100 metres or so up the road, but once again I didn’t find it as appealing as Sandy Lane or East Meon which I have shown you before.

The highlight of the day was definitely our leisurely lunch beside the canal. However, it did cut short our sightseeing and we didn’t make it to Castle Combe.

As I said before “You can’t do everything!”
