I love some of the names we have come across and yesterday’s was no exception- Coleton Fishacre

Day 35: A visit to a National Trust home.
There was not a fish to be seen let alone acres of them at this impressive home built in the 1920’s for the D’Oyly Carte family.
The family owned the Savoy Hotel in London and was well known for supporting musical theatre with artists such as Gilbert & Sullivan enjoying their patronage.
The home has magnificent gardens and showcases plants from around the world that thrive in this waterfront valley.

It was a stunning blue sky summer day that showcased this lovely home to perfection. It wasn’t a pretentious palace but warm and liveable.
We stopped for a light lunch at the cafe on site and Grimple and Grundle checked out the plants for sale. They seem quite at home in the garden 🪴

It was a great choice by Richard and Gwen to showcase a fairly local National Trust property on a day that was just too good to be at home!
