It’s Day 50 of our UK holiday. We crossed the border into Scotland today so we thought it appropriate that we dined tonight at The Laird’s Inn.

Our accommodation tonight is in Creetown, a seaside village not far from Stranraer where we catch the ferry to Ireland in a couple of days.

Our host, Panny, recommended The Laird’s Inn for dinner and we were a bit halfhearted about going there having had a late lunch but thought we’d take a drive there and then make up our mind.
The Inn was attached to a derelict mansion so we were feeling good about it already!

When we arrived Panny was at the bar, greeted us like old friends and arranged for a table for us before we had time to say Jack Robinson! The decision was made for us!

We were escorted to a comfortable table amongst other diners … and their dogs!🐕 This was not an outside dining area, it was a formal carpeted room! I’ve been amazed at how dogs are allowed everywhere… and how many there are! Every second person seems to have one.

I have to admit they seem a lot better behaved than Australian dogs though and are happy to lie at their owner’s feet and not intrude on other people. They certainly seem better trained to be in a crowded street, bus or building.
Dogs aside, our dinner was absolutely delicious, one of the nicest meals we’ve had here. It was a lovely reward for a very wet day of travel along winding mountain roads.

The weather cleared as we arrived in Creetown and there’s the promise of a fine day tomorrow for some local exploring.
There’s some standing stones nearby that I’m interested to see. Will I step through them and be transported to another time and place a la Outlander?
We’ll have to wait and see!
