Searching for Connections 1

We are staying on the shores of Strangford Lough in County Down, Ireland. We’re here to search my ancestry but have found there’s so much more to discover.

Mount Stewart

Jennifer, our host at our nearby B&B recommended we visit a National Trust property nearby called Mount Stewart, well known for its beautiful presentation and lovely grounds.

Mount Stewart
Several walking trails too.

The house itself was adorned with massive artworks and was quite grand and imposing.

There were several areas of the gardens, some dedicated to different parts of the world and also the formal areas closer to the house.

There was also a coach house at the entry that displayed the coach used by the Marquis of Londonderry to attend the coronation of George VI at Westminster Abbey.

I found this little story quite amusing 😊

Unfortunately it was a damp day and not conducive to exploring the grounds too far from the shelter of the house but on a sunny day it would be a fabulous place for a picnic.

A perfect place to picnic.
