The Great Wall of China is over 5000 kms along and was constructed over centuries to keep out invaders. Today it is opened up for tourists to invade but one look at the climb and, like the enemies of old, I was unable to penetrate it.
The souvenir scroll reads “I conquered the Wall“ but mine has to say “The wall conquered me”.
One look at this climb and I knew I would be out there with the Mongolian invaders unable to breach these strong defences.
Dave was my flag bearer and went much further than me so was able to get these photos from a different perspective.
It’s hard to see how steep this climb is but I can guarantee that when you are at the base it looks vertical.
Dave definitely earned this beer!🍺

My goodness, I can quite see why you decided to give it a miss, Rosemary, but it certainly does look quite spectacular. Well done, Dave, for getting those photos which just summed up how steep it is.

No one tells you have high each step is too, as well as steep. I couldn’t conquer it either.
