The Sanctuary of Truth

We hadn’t planned any shore excursion for our full day in Thailand but after attending an information session on what to see and do The Sanctuary of Truth became a ‘must see’ option!

Sanctuary of Truth

This amazing structure is carved by hand and there is not a single nail used in its construction.

Traditional methods of construction

Each part of the building tells a different story with the levels leading upwards to truth and enlightenment.

Here’s some photos of the exterior that show the size and yet intricacy of these magnificent carvings.

There were a lot of steps to explore the interior so my favourite photographer, Dave, did the internal shots for me while I avoided the stairs.

We were lucky to meet another couple off the boat who wanted to join us so we shared the cost of a private cab to travel the 25 kms there and back from Pattaya. Our total cost for this trip was 1500 baht or about $75 for Dave & me which also included our entry to the venue. We both agree it was money well spent.

Grundle stayed home today but Grimple didn’t want to miss out so he came along and enjoyed himself too.

Grimple the tourist Gronk!

And of course Dave & Rosemary had to have the obligatory tourist pic too.

It was a fabulous tourist experience in every way and we both thoroughly enjoyed it.
