Our next stop from Suzhou (Soo-chow) was Wuxi (Woo – shee) where we visited a Pearl factory and enjoyed a visit to Lihu Park.

It’s 7 kms around the park so we were taken around the lake in little buses. 🚌

The driver wasn’t wasting any time as he whizzed us around the perimeter with only a couple of stops to enjoy the view and learn some local history.
At our first stop there was a statue with the tradition that if you touched his golden thumb you would be prosperous …. So why wouldn’t you? We hope the tradition has some truth to it because we are going to a pearl factory later today!

Myth has it that the lake was created by a powerful lord to bring water to the land for cultivation and prosperity.

Pardon my croaky throat on this video it’s a combination of tiredness and air quality!
Next stop – the pearl factory! Thank goodness Dave has control of the credit card!
