Give me some shady gum trees and a river and I’m a happy camper!
Add wind gusts up to 50 kilometres an hour and ooops …. not so happy anymore.
I’ve just spent a few days at Ponto Falls, a huge open camping area on the Macquarie River just south of Dubbo in New South Wales. Down the river bank from my camp was this great rope to swing into the river on so I would think it’s well used by families.
The thought crossed my mind … if I was only 10 years younger. Then I thought again – get real Rosemary, you need to be at least 40 years younger just to get down the steep river bank!
A couple of hundred metres further on some friends were camped right on the sand bank at river level.
I chose the high ground with another group.
I can’t wait to go back to Ponto Falls – when the wind isn’t blowing quite so hard.
