Beautiful Bribie

There’s nothing like an island holiday, even if it is only driving across a bridge to get there! And beautiful Bribie Island is right on our doorstep.

We packed Dave’s RV for the two of us and booked in to the Bongaree Caravan Park for a few days of beachside relaxation. It was perfectly located across the road from the waterfront parkland and just a walk to cafes and coffee shops.

When we looked towards the bridge the Glass House Mountains were peeping over the top, a reminder that Dave’s home was not too far away.

The stretch of water between Bribie Island and the mainland is Pumicestone Passage, a popular spot for boating and fishing. I had wondered if there was actually pumice stone there that gave it its name and sure enough this is what I discovered.

Isn’t it interesting that it was thought to be a river? and only recently the sea broke through in a new spot and changed the dynamics of Pumicestone Passage yet again!

I loved our few days by the sea. I’ve always believed the sea is good for my soul and our time at Bribie Island proved to be just that!
