Peaceful Petrie Park

After my travelling adventures yesterday I knew it was going to be a challenge to make it to Bundaberg so I planned to stop at one of the closer road side rest areas overnight. The one a little north of Gympie was pretty crowded so I kept going to Tiaro (tie-row).

The camp site in town was chock a block but I remember my sister telling me about a spot out of town on the Mary River. It was Petrie Park. What a lovely overnight stopover!

It did feel a bit isolated but I decided that if I felt uncomfortable I would pack up and leave. Thank goodness I didn’t need to!

Before the sun went down a brightly coloured brush turkey wandered over to see if there were any pickings, but he was out of luck.

I had a wonderful night’s sleep even though the ground was quite uneven and I had Brutus chocked up to the max trying to get him level.

Cars started arriving quite early in the morning and when my curiosity got the better of me I got out of bed to see what was going on.

Oh my goodness! I was surrounded by a horde of khaki clad landcare warriors writing notes, taking photographs & chatting loudly to each other … and here I was in the middle of all this and I’m still in my nightdress! 😱

I quickly and quietly got dressed, packed everything away and hit the road to my destination- Bundaberg.
