Getting Lost Is Becoming A Habit

Day 2: We left the Five Bells at Wickham after an exhausted sleep, wonderful hot shower and substantial breakfast and made our way to Chudleigh in Devon where we are staying with Dave’s cousin Richard and his wife Gwen.

I’m not sure now which route we took but I can guarantee it wasn’t remotely direct! The problem is… we don’t have a GPS! “No problem”, says Dave, “I know the way!” Famous last words!

In the 2 days we have been in England I have seen more country lanes than most of the natives would have seen. 😅 Extremely picturesque but not necessarily taking us in the right direction.

Lost… and loving it!

We stopped in Honiton to buy a data pack to give us Google maps and found a bakery that was impossible to pass without indulging in a Cornish pasty and headed off in what we hoped was the right direction.

Yum!

At last we arrived in Chudleigh to a wonderfully warm welcome, where I met Richard & Gwen in the flesh, so to speak, after many Skype sessions planning our trip with them.

Their lovely home will be our base as we wander the countryside. I must say, not only are Dave and I happy to be here, Grimple and Grundle love the view from our room.

Day 3 & 4: Rest days

After a couple of rest days we’re ready to be tourists.
