Caravan? Where’s the Wheels?

Dave’s cousins, Andy & Gill, introduced us to caravanning ‘Brit’ style when we stayed with them at Challaborough recently and I have to say it’s totally different to any caravanning experience we would expect in Australia. 🇦🇺

Our caravan park at Heysham.

We repeated that experience last night when we stayed in The Summer House at the Ocean Edge Caravan Park at Heysham. We had booked this place long before we left Australia and had no idea it was in a caravan park, let alone such a huge one.

All those blue marks are ‘caravans’ – or cabins as we know them. There was not the Aussie definition of a caravan to be seen. These ‘cabins’ are also called static caravans, or just ‘caravans’ here … very confusing 🫤

We were lucky we were only 3 cabins back from the water – couldn’t really call it a beach – and the weather was fine enough for a shoreline walk.

A bonus of our stay was the free wifi that Andy & Gill had arranged for us at Challaborough worked here too as the park was managed by the same company! Winning!

We enjoyed a comfortable overnighter here, Day 47 of our UK journey, before heading to Windermere in the Lakes District for a couple of days.
