How lucky are we? After studying maps and apps we decided to take our chances of finding a nice campsite somewhere along the Murray River. It shouldn’t be hard – the Murray River is hundreds of kilometres long – but it’s not all accessible and it’s certainly in high demand over the Easter break. But just look what we found!

While some of the popular spots look like car parks we have this little campsite all to ourselves. We’re opposite a river front beach and today, Good Friday, there’s lots of locals enjoying the sunshine and the water.

We’re certainly not the first people to camp here as there are some plaques on a tree at the entry to the campsite which suggests it’s been a favourite family camp for many years and one dedicated to the memory of loved ones.

We’re sharing our campsite with hundreds of corellas that perch in the old river red gums surrounding us and then all take off together to fly to the other side of the river and perch in the trees over there. Their screeching is deafening. Have a listen here.
This is the life! Dave and I often say to each other “aren’t we lucky to be here – and to be sharing this“
In those famous words from the movie The Castle “Ah, the serenity“

I hope you’re all enjoying your Easter holidays as much as we are. And I do hope the Easter bunny finds you – and us! 🐣
