We’re not talking movies here, we’re talking jacaranda trees!

The Australian city of Grafton, in New South Wales, celebrates these magnificent trees with their Jacaranda Festival during their flowering season and we are fortunate to be housesitting in the area at this time.

There are over 3000 jacaranda trees in the parks and lining the city streets of Grafton and when in full bloom they carpet the ground with fallen blossoms and colour the air with a lovely lilac haze.

The blooms don’t seem quite so lush this year after a long dry winter followed by savage wind and rain but Grafton is still celebrating everything purple.
And what nature doesn’t provide the local shopping centre makes up for with this spectacular Jacaranda tree at the entry.

We’ll be heading off to some of the Festival events so I’m looking forward to sharing them with you!
