What better way to spend Sunday than at a local market in the nearby village of Avenel, followed by a lovely lunch at the White Hart Hotel at Longwood, a few kilometres away.
The market was mainly local produce including olive oil, home made Christmas puddings, soaps and wooden things like platters and bowls. There was also a plant stall which helped my sister, Marion, to decide on a pair of Japanese Maples for her large, half wine barrel pots in the front garden.
The drive from Avenel to Longwood passed through dry looking sheep country to the lush green pastures of thoroughbred racing studs.
The White Hart Hotel has been recently refurbished and has a wonderful ambience and good, but simple menu.
I enjoyed the art by Tank that decorates the walls inside but also loved the wide open outdoor eating area.
The thunder rolled, the lightning flashed and down came the rain so we beat a hasty retreat back to Nagambie after enjoying a very pleasant Sunday out.
