Budgies at Barrow Creek

Budgerigars, those colourful little birds so synonymous with the Australian bush, performed a synchronised dance for me this morning at the waterhole at Barrow Creek. Listen for the ‘whoosh’ as they fly in front of me.

Budgerigars in the wild

Even some Australians are unaware that these swirling masses of green are budgies, being so used to the blues and yellows that have been bred as pets.

What an amazing sight! How lucky am I to experience it! They certainly live up to their collective name of a ‘chatter’ of budgerigars.
