We’re in cane country! Sugar cane! There’s a sweet smell in the air as the mills process the harvest delivered by the lengthy cane trains.

We stopped at Brandybottle Campground for only one night mainly to watch the AFL Grand Final. What a great result! Our team Brisbane Lions, won convincingly to take out the Premiership. 🦁

Our next stop was behind The Pinnacle Hotel for a night. The cane trains ran along the back fence line and some of the drivers were cheeky, tooting their whistles to make sure all the campers were awake! This train was pulling 104 bins and was about 500 metres long, chugging its way to the mill.
The Pinnacle Hotel is famous for its pies so of course we had to have one for lunch the day we arrived. They were huge, absolutely chock-a-block with filling! Needless to say we didn’t need much dinner that night.

With temperatures predicted to be in the mid 30°c for the next couple of days we decided to move to another campground where we can plug into power and enjoy some air conditioning in the motorhome.
The scenery in this area is quite lovely with cane crops at different stages of growth and the backdrop of ranges.

We’re moving on to Finch Hatton Showgrounds, plugging into power and going platypus spotting over the next couple of days. Hope we see some 🤞

Yes love the views into the hills. Enjoy
