Pelican Brief?

These pelicans certainly don’t make a brief appearance at Charis Seafoods on the Gold Coast in Queensland Australia. They gather well before the daily feeding at 3 pm.

The tourist gather also, vying for the best view of the chaos to come when fish heads are thrown to those waiting beaks.

I love all the activity along the Broadwater – the boats, the beaches, people out and about enjoying themselves.

I consider myself very fortunate to have lived in such a lovely environment for several years before I retired from work and started my travels. I even had my own pelican visit my backyard!

This part of the Gold Coast, away from the tourist hussle and bustle, will never lost its appeal to me.

  1. When we first visited the Gold Coast in 1980 I thought we had arrived in heaven on earth. 5 years later we made it our home. Since then we’ve had to share it with more than 400,000 others who probably view it as excitedly as we did. Despite its big city status now, it remains my most preferred place to live.
