Pipers in the Park

Dave and I ventured into town today to see the Scottish Pipe Bands and Celtic dancers.

It was a stinking hot day so shade was important which meant we were sitting close enough to hear the music but not close enough to get any good photos of the performances unfortunately 🙁

I decided to walk around the park, called Market Square, which had a fairground atmosphere with its giant Ferris wheel, food stalls and sideshows.

The photo I was looking for was this next one, the giant Jacaranda Kewpie Doll. And there she was, hiding behind the Ferris wheel!

She’s BIG!

On the way back to Dave I was tempted by the Jacaranda Icecream stall and couldn’t resist buying a couple.

NOTE: You can’t eat Jacarandas as they are poisonous so these were made with boysenberries – and they were delicious!

This young family were more interested in bubbles than bagpipes

It’s 3 hours before the street parade so we headed home to our housesit, about 10kms out of town, to decide later if we’ll battle the crowds to view the parade.

PS: The comfort of home was more appealing than the heat of the street parade – and Dash the dog was happy for the company.
