Now I wonder how it got that name?
Castle Rock is a few kilometres out of Yaraka in Western Queensland and I went there in Chris’s Polaris, a necessary vehicle to navigate much of the track which clambered across dry creek beds and washed out gulleys.
The drive was an adventure in itself!
Here’s our first glimpse of Castle Rock …
… and as we got closer ….
… until we finally arrive!
Around the base of the rock you can fossick for opal but I only found colourful specks amongst the stony ground.
The plants had more appeal to me than smashing rocks 😂
A great few hours exploring even more of the natural wonders of Yaraka.
