After overnighting in Innisfail and restocking the fridge.. and wine rack … we headed north a few kms to Babinda. It’s easy to get sidetracked so the sign to Josephine Falls tempted us off the highway and into the hills. What a worthwhile detour!

The path meandered through tropical rainforest vegetation toward Josephine Falls for about 800 metres. Every turn that took us up a rise was compensated by thought of the downhill route on the way back to our vans. 😅

Dave went down the stairs for a closer look but I wimped out thinking of the climb to get to the top of the falls. I needn’t have worried as it wasn’t a strenuous walk at all!

And I made it to the top!

Josephine Falls is a three tiered waterfall with its source on Mount Bartle Frere, Queensland’s highest mountain. (1611 metres/ 5285 ft high). It is a very pretty waterfall and well worth the short detour off the highway.
