Before we left Coober Pedy we had to shop for food, fuel up our RV’s and restock our alcohol supplies so it was a late morning departure. Our destination, Matheson Bore, is a road side stopover only 110 kms north.

When we pulled in there were already a few of our group there. Dave and Ted had collected some firewood along the road and we were all looking forward to a sunset campfire. We weren’t disappointed!

As the sun went down the sky lit up with its brilliant red reflections through the clouds and the spindly trees stood as stark silhouettes against the horizon.
Meanwhile our jaffle irons came out for a campfire meal.

I do love a good campfire 🔥

Stunning clouds! Love that group shot with the fire’s glow. Been a long time since weather conditions have been favorable for a campfire; I’m a little jealous.

The clouds were really unusual. They looked like someone had scribbled wavy lines through them.
