On the way to my recent stay in Trephina Gorge there was a signed detour to “A Big Tree”. Well, I’ve seen a few of those over the last few weeks so I had to drive in and see how this one compares.

This Ghost Gum, with its smooth white trunk and well proportioned branches, is much more attractive than the sturdy River Red Gums I am comparing it to. It didn’t have the massive girth of the River Gums either so I was surprised to see how old it is estimated to be. And it wasn’t spooky at all! 👻

As I turned the RV around to drive back to the main road this lovely specimen caught my eye …

… and my imagination 🎨

Definitely a worthwhile detour. 😊🎨
