What a sad looking place the Larrimah Hotel and caravan park is!

It is currently undergoing renovation but it looks like there is so much to do no one knows where to get started. The pub basically doesn’t exist – well, it’s not operational anyway – but we wandered through and bought a very good home made sausage roll that we sat in the ‘garden’ and ate.

I don’t know the story behind the name but I always thought it was only a gimmick to entice people off the highway. Today the pink panthers look tired and out of place and if people do drive in there is no reason to stay.

Did you ever see Peter Sellars in The Pink Panther movie? I wonder if that would also look old and tired these days. Best to stick with the memories sometimes I think and avoid the disappointment of things not being how we remembered them.
