Sesame Street might have Big Bird but Australia’s own big bird is the emu.
There are four hand reared emus in the camp at Yaraka that hover around looking for anything to eat – and I mean anything! Attracted by bright colours and shiny objects they have been known to swallow – and then poop – bolts, nails, spoons and anything else that might have taken their fancy.
The emu is Australia’s largest bird and the second largest bird in the world.
Emus look crazy when they run, their long legs splaying out like a gawky teenagers. They look even more awkward dancing as they try to impress a prospective mate 😂
