Yaraka is about 160 kms west of Blackall and a couple of hundred kms south of Longreach in Western Queensland.

The population of around 10 people swells with the influx of grey nomads heading north for the winter. They keep returning each year because of the wonderfully warm welcome they receive from the publicans, Chris and Gerry, who own the pub next door to the campground.

Chris runs the campground guests up to Mt Slocombe to enjoy the sunset and appreciate the vastness of this outback area.

Yaraka is one of those places that you come for a night and stay for a week. The outback hospitality gets you every time.
