The fruit and vegetable man arrived in Yaraka today on his fortnightly circuit around outback towns and stations.

It’s a 3000 kilometre round trip through some rugged and isolated country to provide fresh fruit and vegetables to remote communities.

He’s a welcome sight when the closest shops to Yaraka are in Blackall, 160 kms away.

The ABC did a brief segment on Burnett Hollingsworth, the travelling fruit and vegetable man which tells of his commitment to deliver during all seasons.

His visit provides so much more than fresh produce, it’s also a chance for some social interaction for his customers who come in from outlying properties.

City dwellers, and I was one of them until I started my travels six years ago, take so much for granted – simple things like popping down to the local shop to pick up some fresh fruit and vegetables 🌶🥬🥦🌽🍅
