Country Roads

I’m back on the country roads that inspired a poem I wrote almost 12 months ago.

It’s the last leg of my journey to Yaraka to help my friends out who own the pub there. The section in green, from Jericho to Yaraka via Blackall is today’s journey.

With a regular population of only 13 they are looking forward to an influx of tourists to boost their business before the hot weather arrives, when temperatures between 40 degrees and 50 degrees Celsius drive them all away again.

There’s not as many people travelling this year but I’m sure that will change when the Queensland border is opened to southern tourists.

Here’s my poem, Country Roads
